Emotional intelligence is a key skill for personal and professional success. For leaders it is vital!
Learn to develop this competence and apply it in your daily life, which will lead you to become a more mature, confident, resilient and empathetic person. Your emotions and feelings stopped bothering you and became a source of energy.

WHAT IS IT TO BE A PERSON WITH EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE?

A person with Emotional Intelligence is one who has the ability to recognize our emotions and feelings and those of others and manage our emotions well and emotions in our relationships.

According to the Emotional Intelligence Model developed by Daniel Goleman (author and science journalist from the United States, considered the father of Emotional Intelligence), a person with Emotional Intelligence has skills at a high level in 4 areas:

  1. Recognize emotions and feelings in yourself.
  2. Knowing how to manage your feelings and emotions.
  3. Recognize feelings and emotions in others, that is, have empathy
  4. Know how to manage your feelings and emotions of others.

Mastery of these four areas will make this person achieve their goals and be a productive professional and a competent leader.

Emotional Intelligence Test

ESCI – Emotional and Social Competences is an Emotional Intelligence Test from Korn Ferry that allows you to collect 360º information about your strengths and improve your Emotional Intelligence Skills. It is answered by the participant and by the evaluators that he/she indicates (management, peers, collaborators and others) and the results are compared with a representative world sample.

The ESCI was created by Daniel Goleman and Hay McBer in which we are certified.

The skills assessed are those considered by the studies carried out as the most decisive for an excellent performance in highly complex and dynamic professions, particularly those of leadership.

After completing the questionnaire, the results are compared with a worldwide representative sample of thousands of professionals, including all levels of management, industries, services and functions, resulting in a report with:

  • A guide to interpreting feedback received
  • Summary of results on the 12 competencies compared to the worldwide sample
  • Response frequency report for each item
  • Comments on strengths and points to be improved

WHY IS EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE SO IMPORTANT?

According to studies carried out by Hay McBer and Daniel Goleman, the skills considered essential for excellent performance in all types of professions are:

  • 67% emotional skills
  • 33% cognitive or technical skills

In Leadership roles, emotional skills were even more relevant,

  • 80%. emotional skills
  • 20% cognitive or technical skills

Think about your experience. What were the bosses that you really liked and helped you grow like? And those who didn't like it at all. What skills did they have and which ones did they not? What level of empathy did they have? What emotions and feelings aroused in you? How was their stress management?

Think about how organizations hire their talent. Many of them are based on superficial aspects such as smile, pose, appearance, personality, interests, goals. Others are based on Knowledge and Experience (education, certifications, titles, companies they worked for and the roles they held). Then there are others that focus on Emotional Intelligence (communication, empathy, self-control, adaptability, commitment, stress management, motivation). The latter are usually the most successful in their recruitment.
